ICI Education Foundation and Toigo Foundation Announce 2023 Scholarship Recipients

Washington, DC; December 6, 2023—The Investment Company Institute Education Foundation (ICIEF) is excited to announce the recipients of four new scholarship grants to support the education of high-achieving students from underrepresented backgrounds. The grants, totaling $30,000, are made in partnership with the Toigo Foundation to further support the recipients’ education and professional development in the finance industry.

“We are pleased to continue our partnership with the Toigo Foundation to award these scholarships to a fantastic group of hardworking students,” said ICIEF President Tracey Wingate. “This year’s recipients show great determination through their work, and we look forward to seeing what they accomplish in the future. ICIEF is glad to continue our commitment to building a more inclusive financial services industry.”

ICIEF has awarded financial scholarships to the following Toigo fellows in partnership with the Toigo Foundation:

Robert Grey – MBA candidate at New York University, Class of 2025
Esther Osinaiya – MBA candidate at Columbia University, Class of 2024
Marcus Pereira – MBA candidate at Harvard Business School, Class of 2024
Kelsey Young – MBA candidate at Harvard Business School, Class of 2025

“I’m thankful to receive this scholarship from the ICI Education Foundation and the Toigo Foundation. This scholarship provides incredibly helpful financial support towards my education, as well as invaluable exposure to the asset management industry. This scholarship will help me work towards my goal of establishing a career in investment management and producing long-term sustainable growth for clients. I look forward to helping contribute to a more inclusive financial services industry as I begin my career on the investing side of asset management,” said Grey

“This scholarship will allow me to further my education at Columbia Business School where I am working to obtain an MBA with a concentration in Public Investing,” added Osinaiya. “I look forward to starting a career in Investment Research in the asset management industry after graduation. Throughout my career I will work to ensure the financial services industry is more diverse and inclusive.”

“Thank you to the ICI Education Foundation for awarding me this grant. This scholarship will allow me to further my education at Harvard Business School where I am working to obtain my MBA, as well as provide invaluable exposure to the asset management industry,” said Pereira.

ICIEF started its partnership with the Toigo Foundation in April 2019 and made a five-year commitment to help further fund the foundation’s important efforts to nurture the career advancement and increased leadership of underrepresented talent in the finance industry, as well as in similar industries. ICIEF is the educational affiliate of ICI whose mission is to increase financial literacy, focusing on individuals from underrepresented communities.
